BNN story of San Antonio Rock N Roll Marathon 2006

This news story features the San Antonio Marathon I participated in, my very first 1/2 marathon a great accomplishment for me

WoooHooooo I did it !

In November of 2008 I accomplished something I never though possible... I ran my very first 1/2 marathon in San Antonio Texas.

With the help of the BeachBody workouts and the coaching I received from the community I was able to overcome every fear and every obstacle I had and just did it...

In years past every time I tried to start a running routine, I always stopped within a few days as my knees would give up on me and not be able to handle the strain running put on them. In January 08 I started running, very slow to begin with and not long distances... I gradually increased my distance and then also started to increase my speed. I made it to a full 5K without pain and was amazed... I stayed at that level over the summer and just continued running about 3-4 miles 3 times a week.

At the end of the summer we had a BeachBody Coach (ArmyMike) help us set up a running routine that would get us ready for the race in San Antonio.

At this point I was just happy to finish the race, I'm not looking at any speed or anything else... just want to finish it...

I have to say working through several injuries on the way I was starting to doubt if I ever would complete this race...

But as Mike promised, he got us all over the finish line... I would even dare to say I had a smile on my face when I did :) knowing that I did something that my doctors didn't think was even possible...

Now I didn't do it in record breaking time but that just leaves room for improvement for the next race right... this will not be my last 1/2 marathon

The Straight Dope: P90X Pro Edition

The Straight Dope: P90X Pro Edition

A painful start

I started workout to the BeachBody dvd's in late 2005 after my health took a big dumpster dive... at first there were many things for me to over come...

Not liking exercise, tons of excuses why I should not exercise, joint pains from my Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) you name it I could find a reason not to workout.

But I wanted my health to get better so I finally committed and decided that this was it in January of 06, I found the BeachBody message boards and found some online support that really got me through my first 6 week program...

I started out with Slim In 6 and after that I moved on to several of the other workout programs available such as Power 90, Slim Series, Turbo Jam, Power 90 Master Series and P90X.

Even with the workouts and being on medication for RA, my joints were still hurting and still giving me issues... but I have to say though consistency and patience my health finally started to see an upswing...

Today I have been consistent in my workouts and my health has seen great improvements... I have been medication free since May of 07 and I'm staying 99% pain free...

My focus is on my exercise, my eating and finding a balance in my daily life... not always easy when you are working full time and being a single mom... but with the BeachBody workouts I'm able schedule it into my busy day.
